Frogmore Road, Market Drayton – Food and Retail Development
This project consisted of a mixed use Town Centre retail development on a brownfield site, adjacent to the central car park in Market Drayton, comprising 15.06m² (20,000 sq.ft) retail accommodation, new loading bay, 14 residential apartments and improvements to the existing public square.
The objective of this project was to re-generate an important Town Centre site in Market Drayton with high quality mixed use retail and residential units. The development also required prominent frontage to the central car park.
During phase one of the project J-Ross Developments Ltd provided a range of flexible retail accommodation, which was capable of sub-division into five to six units all benefiting from excellent frontage to the Town Centre car park and return frontage to Frogmore Road, the town’s inner link road. The retail accommodation also has first floor storage space which is accessed via a dedicated stairway and goods lift. The scheme also included proposals to refurbish and improve the adjoining public square.
Allowing goods access to the retail units was fundamental to the project and this was achieved by forming a lay by off Frogmore Road enabling larger commercial vehicles to pull into the site without disrupting the flow of traffic on either Frogmore Road or the central car park.
In addition to successfully delivering the retail accommodation J-Ross Developments provided 14 high quality two bedroom residential apartments, each with their own integrated balconies and secure residential car park area to the rear of the building.
Phase two of the project consisted of 9,000 sq ft of the commercial property being let to B & M Retail Ltd, which left 4,500 sq ft of available space, capable of being sub-divided into two units.
